About this position
Örebro University, School of Science and Technology, is advertising a doctoral studentship in Explainable Machine Learning for Neuromorphic Computing within the doctoral programme in Computer Science. The project is focused on predictive materials discovery and forms part of a larger effort, Brain-inspired AI Design of Topological Magnets for Sustainable Computing.
The doctoral student will join a five-year WASP-WISE-funded collaboration with research groups at Uppsala University and KTH, aimed at designing sustainable magnetic materials. The project also connects the student to the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Programme (WASP) and its graduate school, which supports interdisciplinary training, research visits, and a strong international network in AI, autonomous systems, and software.
The position is a full-time doctoral studentship linked to four years of full-time doctoral study, leading to a doctoral degree and comprising 240 credits. The initial salary is SEK 32,300 per month.
Applicants should meet the general and specific entry requirements for doctoral studies in computer science. A relevant second-cycle degree, or equivalent qualifications, is required. The university is looking for a candidate with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, good interpersonal and collaborative abilities, and excellent English skills. Prior coursework, thesis work, or publications in digital image processing, computer vision, machine learning, neuromorphic computing, or artificial intelligence are considered meritorious, especially if applied in scientific contexts.
