Fully Funded MS & PhD Positions in Antarctic Ice Sheet Research – ICE2O Lab at
University of South Florida College of Marine Science
The ICE2O Lab (Ice Sheet Change to Ocean Impacts) at USF College of Marine Science is recruiting fully funded MS and Ph.D. students to join cutting-edge research on Antarctic ice sheet–ocean interactions across past, present, and future environmental scenarios.
Students will be given opportunities to work on interdisciplinary projects that combine ice sheet modeling with geophysical observations and paleoclimate proxy data to better understand ice sheet dynamics and their impact on the global sea level. The newly formed ICE2O Lab offers a supportive and collaborative working environment with access to state-of-the-art resources and opportunities to contribute to high-impact science with global relevance.
Student funding packages include tuition, stipend, health insurance, and research support. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and encourage applications from those passionate about Earth systems science. Ideal candidates will have strong foundations in physics or mathematics, along with some prior experience in scientific programming (e.g., Python, MATLAB, or similar).
Located on the waterfront of St. Petersburg, FL, the USF College of Marine Science is a vibrant coastal research hub with faculty expertise across oceanographic disciplines, and particular strengths in Southern Ocean science and sea level change. It is home to the Florida Flood Hub for Applied Research and Innovation, which is focused on some of the state’s most pressing environmental challenges and aims to bridge the gap between scientists, policymakers, practitioners, and the public to help communities mitigate and adapt to flooding risks.
Prospective students are encouraged to contact Dr. Daniel Lowry at [email protected] to learn more about current opportunities and potential research topics. Applications are due December 15.
