Job opportunity for an Emerging Tech Manager with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity in Chicago, Illinois.

This is a public-sector role focused on supporting Illinois’ tech ecosystem through the Office of Entrepreneurship, Innovation & Technology (OEIT). The manager will help organize, plan, and execute programs that serve entrepreneurs and tech companies, including initiatives such as the Rebuild Illinois Wet Lab Capital Program and the SBIR/STTR State Matching Program.

The position involves program development and maintenance, fiscal and programmatic oversight, policy support, outreach, partnership building, and supervision. It is especially relevant to candidates with experience in technology policy, startup ecosystem support, program management, data analytics, public administration, business, economics, and related fields.

Minimum qualifications include 4 years of college (preferably in business, marketing, psychology, history, economics, or public administration), 4 years of progressively responsible administrative experience, and 7 years of experience providing resources to help tech startups launch and grow. Preferred experience includes extensive work with tech startups, tech-related organizations, program administration, presentations, Microsoft Office, and web-based information management tools.
