About this position
FDA Postdoctoral Fellowship opportunity in biopredictive dissolution development for oral peptides at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER), in Silver Spring, Maryland.
This fellowship is focused on pharmaceutics, regulatory science, analytical chemistry, and the development of biopredictive dissolution methods for complex oral peptide drug products. The project addresses scientific challenges in conventional dissolution testing, especially where dosage form disintegration, peptide release, gastrointestinal physiology, and permeability enhancers affect in vivo performance. The work is relevant to bioequivalence assessment, lifecycle management, post-approval changes, and generic drug development.
Fellow activities may include evaluating formulation and process variables, developing discriminating and physiologically relevant dissolution methods, exploring in vitro/in vivo relationships, applying advanced analytical approaches, and contributing to evidence generation for scientifically sound regulatory frameworks. The fellowship also supports updates to dissolution guidance documents and provides exposure to multidisciplinary research in pharmaceutics, analytical chemistry, and regulatory science.
Eligibility: applicants should be currently pursuing or have received a doctoral degree in a relevant field. Preferred background includes strong analytical capability and pharmacy/pharmacology-related knowledge. The opportunity is open to U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and eligible foreign nationals. A successful background investigation is required.
Funding: full-time ORISE/FDA fellowship with a monthly stipend commensurate with educational level and experience. The appointment is initially for one year and may be renewed depending on FDA recommendation and availability of funds. Proof of health insurance is required; no employment-related benefits are provided.
Application: apply through the Zintellect/ORISE portal by clicking APPLY on the opportunity page. Submit transcripts, a current CV/resume, and one recommendation. The deadline is 2026-09-01 (rolling review noted).
