About this position

Universitat Jaume I (UJI), within INIT/GEOTEC, is looking for candidates for an FPU 2026 predoctoral contract leading to a PhD. This is a full-time predoctoral employment opportunity for up to 4 years, with research and training in Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT), Edge AI, TinyML, Federated and Distributed Learning, Edge–Fog–Cloud computing, IoT and intelligent sensor networks, AI-based indoor positioning and localization, Digital Twins, and AI/IoT applications for environmental monitoring, energy, smart cities, and industry.

The call is aimed at candidates with a background in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Telecommunications, or related fields. Applicants should have a completed Master's degree, or be currently finishing a Master's degree that provides access to a PhD programme. An excellent academic record is preferred, ideally 8.5/10 or equivalent, together with strong motivation to pursue doctoral research and a research career.

Funding includes a full-time predoctoral employment contract with €32,500/year allocated to salary and employer Social Security costs, plus €10,000 additional support for research stays and PhD tuition fees. The programme also includes university teaching experience as part of the FPU training and may offer a postdoctoral orientation period after the PhD within the 4-year funding window.
