About this position
Imperial College London is offering up to 15 fully funded 1+3 PhD studentships in Biomedical Research through the new HealthBRIDGE programme, supported by the UKRI Medical Research Council Doctoral Landscape Award.
The programme is designed for students interested in biomedical research, translational research, medical innovation, digital skills, entrepreneurship, and data science. In the foundation year, students complete research rotations, co-design a PhD project, and take core training in biomedical research, innovations and entrepreneurship, or data science. After successful completion, students move into a 3-year PhD project focused on translating cross-disciplinary medical research into future innovation in early diagnosis, advanced therapies, and precision prevention.
Funding: fully funded studentship with a tax-free stipend at the UKRI ‘Inside London’ rate (£23,805 p/a during the foundation year, rising to £26,500 for the PhD years), plus tuition fees, conference fund, research support, training grant, and additional funds for research and training activities.
Eligibility: applicants should have, or expect to receive, a first-class or good upper second-class Honours undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject. If the applicant has postgraduate study, they should have, or expect to receive, a pass or above at Master’s level; a Master’s degree is only required for those with a lower second-class undergraduate degree. International applicants are welcome, and candidates are encouraged to review the programme’s eligibility criteria.
Application window: applications open on 14 October 2026 and close on 11 November 2026. Applicants should use the Imperial HealthBRIDGE how-to-apply page for instructions and admissions timelines.
