Fully funded PhD and Graduate Teaching Fellowship opportunity in the Department of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology at the University of Liverpool.

The project welcomes applicants with a good undergraduate degree and/or a master's in Sociology, Criminology, or a cognate discipline. The department is inviting proposals across a range of sociology and criminology topics, including a highlighted project on Muslim women, Islamophobia and football, supervised by Dr Leon Moosavi and Dr Gemma Ahearne.

Other possible projects include sociological analyses of looksmaxxing, AI and democratic futures, environmental harm and restoration, digital visions of city futures, lived experience and leadership in criminal justice, online misogynistic cultures and female sexfluencers, neurodiversity in the criminal justice system, technology-facilitated gender-based violence, public health criminology and sex workers, and alcohol in prisons.

This is a fully funded PhD route with teaching responsibilities. Funding covers UK home fees only and includes a UKRI-level maintenance grant. International students are welcome to apply, but international fee coverage is not included and visa requirements may apply.

Applicants should be prepared to teach criminology and critical social policy modules, as well as modules related to their own research area. Previous teaching experience is not required, as training and mentoring will be provided.
