The group’s research focuses on 3D GIS, City Information Modeling (CIM), GeoAI, smart city systems, digital twins, and urban big data AI/statistical analytics. Two main directions are highlighted: (1) 3D GIS/CIM/AI-assisted smart city and digital twin applications, and (2) 3D CIM-supported urban big data AI and statistical analytics.
Applicants from backgrounds such as computer science, photogrammetry, remote sensing, spatial/geographic statistics, EEE, robotics, construction automation, computational urban planning, computational architecture, and urban design are encouraged to apply. Experience with machine learning, graph-based methods, large language models (LLMs), and robotics control is especially valued.
PhD students will receive a scholarship of RMB 15,000/month for up to four years, with early graduation encouraged. Funding and appointment details for postdocs, RBM students, RAs, and visiting students depend on HKUST(GZ) schemes and individual arrangements.
