Fully funded PhD fellowship opportunity in Artificial Intelligence at Bahria University, Islamabad (H-11 Campus), under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Amanullah Yasin (Department of Computer Science). The project is centered on Privacy-Preserving Federated Soft Biometrics for Real-Time Covert Urban Surveillance, combining Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, Federated Learning, Edge Computing, Big Data Analytics, Incremental & Distributed Learning, and Human-Centric AI.

The research theme focuses on developing intelligent, privacy-preserving surveillance systems that can understand human attributes and behaviors using non-intrusive soft biometric traits such as gait, clothing, posture, activity patterns, and crowd dynamics. The post highlights applications in smart cities, urban security, responsible AI, and ethical AI deployment.

The selected PhD fellow will also collaborate internationally with researchers from London Metropolitan University, UK, including Dr. Bilal Hassan (Senior Lecturer AI & Computer Vision), with opportunities for collaborative publications, research networking, and possible research exchange.

Funding: full tuition fee coverage for 3 years and a monthly stipend of PKR 100,000 for 3 years. Additional benefits include access to advanced AI labs and HPC facilities, high-impact journal and conference publications, and potential research visits/exchange opportunities.

Eligibility: MS/MPhil (equivalent) in AI, CS, SE, DS, EE, CE, Cyber Security, Information Security, or related fields; CGPA at least 3.0/4.0; strong background in mathematics, machine learning, and optimization; proficiency in Python and ML/DL frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras; computer vision and deep learning experience is desirable.
