About this position

Fully funded PhD opportunity in Public Health, Housing inequalities, Physical activity, and Health and wellbeing at Liverpool John Moores University, within the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration North West Coast (ARC NWC).

The project, Active Living at Home: Understanding the Impact of Housing Inequalities on Physical Activity and Health Outcomes, examines how poor-quality or overcrowded housing, limited indoor space, lack of private outdoor areas, and neighbourhood environments that do not support walking or recreation can affect physical and mental health. The successful candidate will work with diverse communities to understand barriers and opportunities for active living and explore how housing design and planning can better support healthier lifestyles.

Relevant research areas include physical activity and active living, housing design and neighbourhood environments, culture, religion and health behaviours, housing inequalities and health outcomes, and public health policy and inclusive communities.

Supervisory team: Dr Samira Awwal, Professor Thomas O'Brien, and Dr Emma Mulliner.

This is a fully funded PhD studentship for UK home students only. Applicants who are required to pay international tuition fees must secure funding to cover the difference between home and international fee rates.

Informal enquiries are invited via LinkedIn. No deadline was stated in the post.
