About this position
CRISMAT – ENSICAEN (ENSICAEN – CNRS – University of Caen Normandy) is recruiting a fully funded PhD student for a 36-month project on mixed-anion thermoelectric materials in Caen, France.
The project focuses on the synthesis of new thermoelectric materials, crystal structure determination, and characterization using X-ray diffraction (XRD/DRX), electron microscopy, and spectroscopy. The doctoral research will also include measurements of electrical and thermal properties and the correlation between crystal structure and thermoelectric performance.
This PhD is strongly connected to energy materials research, with applications in industrial waste heat recovery, automotive exhaust heat recovery, and autonomous electronic devices. The position is suitable for candidates with a Master’s degree in Materials Science, Solid-State Chemistry, Solid-State Physics, or a related discipline.
Applicants should have an interest in advanced materials synthesis and characterization. The thesis can be conducted in English. Funding is provided through a fully funded doctoral contract for 36 months.
Deadline: 31 August 2026. Start date: November 2026.
