Funded Masters by Research in Solar Farms, Biodiversity and Threatened Species Recovery Lancaster University in United Kingdom

Now open for applications: a funded Masters by Research project on solar farms, biodiversity, threatened species recovery, ecological research, conservation, GIS, and fieldwork. The project asks how solar farms can support biodiversity and contribute to the recovery of threatened species as the UK moves towards Net Zero.

The studentship is flexible and can be designed around the successful applicant’s skills and interests. Possible directions include targeted conservation actions, mapping where solar farms can best support species recovery, or carrying out field-based research at solar farms. Students will gain experience in ecological research and data analysis, with potential training in GIS and fieldwork.

The project involves researchers from Lancaster University and the University of York, together with industry experts from project partner Foresight Group. Funding covers tuition fees and research costs, and includes a stipend contribution towards living expenses (subject to confirmation).

Eligibility: open to UK applicants only. The post is aimed at candidates who have recently finished their degree and are considering a research-focused next step.
