Funded PhD and Postdoc Positions in CEREBRA-AI: Explainable, Continual, and Neurosymbolic AI University of Granada in Spain

Funded PhD and Postdoc positions are open for the CEREBRA-AI EU Project at the University of Granada, within the Andalusian Data Science Institute (DaSCI). The project focuses on explainable AI, neurosymbolic AI, continual learning, reinforcement learning, and deep learning, with a strong emphasis on trustworthy, AI Act–aligned general-purpose AI.

The project description highlights a unified framework for continual, explainable, and embodied GPAI, including hybrid reasoning, lifelong adaptation, embodied interaction, and trust, fairness, provenance, and uncertainty handling. Research will be connected to sectoral pilots in healthcare, mobility, energy, environment, and manufacturing.

Applicants should have a background in computer engineering, computer science, data science, or related areas such as mathematics, statistics, industrial engineering, or electrical engineering. The form also accepts candidates with extensive AI experience. The application asks for evidence of relevant experience in XAI, NeSy AI, continual learning, reinforcement learning, and deep learning, plus English and Spanish language information.

The positions are funded and on-site in Granada, Spain. The stated gross salary is about 3,000 EUR/month for the PhD position and 3,500 EUR/month for the postdoc position. The project lasts about 4 years, with contracts around 46–47 months and a short trial period. Travel for project meetings and possible collaboration visits may be expected.
