About this position

This funded PhD project, titled PsychotROpiC dEciSion-making pregnancy-SMI (PROCESS), is based in the College of Health and Life Sciences at Aston University in Birmingham, United Kingdom, and is delivered in partnership with Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
The project explores how shared decision-making between prescribers, pregnant women with SMI, nurses, pharmacists, and family members can support safer and more effective use of psychotropic medication during pregnancy. The research uses a realist evaluation approach and is structured around three work packages: a realist review, stakeholder interviews to develop guidance, and dissemination/engagement with policymakers such as the NHS and NICE.

Equivalent international qualifications may be accepted. Desirable experience includes realist research, interviewing participants, and clinical or research experience in severe mental illness or medication optimisation.
