Funded PhD in Women’s Health, Fitness and Readiness in the Irish Defence Forces Technological University of the Shannon in Canada

Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) is advertising a funded PhD opportunity titled MISSION-READY, focused on women’s health, fitness, and readiness in the Irish Defence Forces. The project is a 4-year, TUS-funded doctoral position carried out in collaboration with The University of Oklahoma and the Irish Defence Forces.

The research will use a mixed-methods approach to examine recruitment, retention, fitness, women’s health, injury risk, and psychosocial wellbeing among female recruits. The successful candidate will also help co-design and evaluate a female-focused training intervention and contribute to building the first national dataset on women’s health and performance in the defence sector.

This opportunity is especially suitable for applicants with a background in sport and exercise science or physiology, particularly those with experience in exercise testing and data analysis. The student will be based in Athlone, Ireland, with travel to barracks during data collection phases.
