Funded PhD in Women’s Health, Fitness and Readiness in the Irish Defence Forces

Technological University of the Shannon (TUS) is advertising a funded PhD opportunity titled MISSION-READY , focused on women’s health, fitness, and readiness in the Irish Defence Forces . The project is a 4-year, TUS-funded doctoral position carried out in collaboration with The University of Oklahoma and the Irish Defence Forces. The research will use a mixed-methods approach to examine recruitment, retention, fitness, women’s health, injury risk, and psychosocial wellbeing among female recruits. The successful candidate will also help co-design and evaluate a female-focused training intervention and contribute to building the first national dataset on women’s health and performance in the defence sector. This opportunity is especially suitable for applicants with a background in sport and exercise science or physiology , particularly those with experience in exercise testing and data analysis . The student will be based in Athlone, Ireland , with travel to barracks during data collection phases.
