About this position

Funded postdoctoral opportunities are available in soft humanoid robotics at the Bio-Inspired Robotics Laboratory, Department of Precision Engineering, University of Tokyo.

The position focuses on research in design, control, sensing, and simulation of soft humanoid robots. The lab also highlights broader interests in biologically inspired robotics, soft robotics, humanoid robotics, sensing systems, and soft matter modelling and analysis.

Applicants should have a relevant first degree and a PhD (or be close to completion) in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, materials science, or a related field. Experience in rapid prototyping is required. Exceptionally qualified candidates may be considered for a project assistant professor appointment with a higher salary scale.

The appointment is for 24 months with a possibility of extension. The post is based in the Bio-Inspired Robotics Lab at the Department of Precision Engineering, University of Tokyo, and the successful candidate will contribute to the department’s research and teaching environment.
