FutureChips Postdoctoral Fellowship in Photonics and Next-Generation Semiconductor Technologies at Tampere University Tampere University in Finland

FutureChips at Tampere University is a new postdoctoral fellowship programme for researchers working in photonics, optical technologies, nonlinear optics, optical sensing, photonic computing, and chip-related technologies. The programme is part of an EU COFUND initiative supporting ambitious research in next-generation semiconductor technologies, microelectronics, and photonics.

The first call for applications opens on 1 July 2026 and closes on 31 August 2026. The programme offers 12 fellowships in this round, with a total of 20 excellent researchers supported overall. Fellows are expected to relocate to Tampere and begin the fellowship in July 2027.

Applicants should be postdoctoral researchers with strong, ambitious research ideas that fit the FutureChips environment and the available research infrastructure. The call follows Marie Skłodowska-Curie mobility rules, so eligibility should be checked carefully before applying. The match between the proposed project and the infrastructure is an important evaluation criterion.
