Gilead Research Scholars Program – Public Health is a global research funding opportunity for early-career investigators working on HIV and viral hepatitis (HBV, HCV, HDV). It supports country-driven public health research aligned with local priorities and sustainable development goals.

This opportunity is aimed at junior faculty, postdoctoral researchers, and public health researchers from low- and middle-income countries/regions. Eligible applicants must hold an MD/MBChB/MBBS, PhD, or equivalent degree, be within 10 years of their terminal degree, and be working in an academic research institution or public health organization. Applicants also need an in-country mentor with relevant expertise and must be able to devote about 50% of their professional time to research for the next two years.

The program is designed to help build independent research careers in public health, with a strong emphasis on HIV and viral hepatitis research. Proposals should be country-driven and should not involve ineligible interventional clinical studies or research on Gilead products. Duplicative funding is not allowed.
