International Joint PhD in Automatic Control and Applied Mathematics at UFAM and Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France Universidade Federal do Amazonas in France

Universidade Federal do Amazonas (UFAM) and the Université Polytechnique Hauts-de-France (UPHF), through LAMIH UMR CNRS 8201, are advertising an International Joint (Cotutelle) PhD opportunity starting in November 2026.

The project is jointly supervised by Prof. Michel Dambrine (LAMIH, Valenciennes, France) and Prof. Iury Bessa (UFAM, Manaus, Brazil). The selected PhD candidate will conduct research across both institutions, spending approximately 1.5 years in Manaus and 1.5 years in Valenciennes under joint supervision.

This opening is centered on Automatic Control and Applied Mathematics, with related interests in convex optimization, robust control, system identification, estimation, and fault diagnosis. The post also highlights the need for strong programming skills and fluency in English.

Eligibility: applicants should hold a Master's degree or equivalent in Automatic Control, Applied Mathematics, or a related field. A strong background in control is required, and experience in the listed computational/control topics will be considered an advantage.
