Laboratory Technician in Molecular Microbial Ecology at Linnaeus University Linnaeus University in Sweden

Linnaeus University in Sweden is seeking a Laboratory Technician for a temporary full-time position (3 months) in the field of Molecular Microbial Ecology. The role is based in Kalmar within the Department of Biology and Environmental Science, part of the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences. The department is multidisciplinary, with research spanning aquatic ecology, cell and organism biology, evolutionary biology, microbiology, environmental science, and disease ecology. The position is associated with the Centre for Ecology and Evolution in Microbial Model Systems (EEMiS).

The laboratory technician will play a key role in supporting research on the response of organisms to changing environmental conditions and ecosystem interactions. Responsibilities include sampling, handling, and preparation of nucleic acid samples from environmental sources, DNA and RNA extraction, quantification and quality control, PCR and qPCR (including primer design and troubleshooting), flow cytometry, and methods development. The technician will also train students and postdocs in best-practice protocols, write risk assessments, and manage laboratory facilities and equipment.

Applicants must have completed undergraduate studies in a related field and have documented experience in molecular microbial methods and good laboratory practice. High proficiency in English, independent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work well in a team are required.
