About this position

The Department of Mathematics at the University of California, Irvine is offering two non-tenure-track postdoctoral positions focused on research and teaching in geometry and topology. These are three-year, term appointments funded by the NSF-supported Southern California Geometry and Topology Center. The positions are open to outstanding candidates in all areas of geometry and topology, with particular emphasis on algebraic, complex, and differential geometry, geometric PDE, moduli spaces of canonical geometries, and the arithmetic and topology of complex varieties.

The successful candidates will teach no more than three quarter classes per year and will receive research support for conference travel and other professional needs. Applicants must demonstrate strong promise in both research and teaching. Eligibility is restricted to citizens, nationals, or permanent residents of the United States or its territories and possessions, and candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Mathematics or a closely related field by the start date of employment. The application process requires submission of a cover letter, CV, research statement, teaching statement (with guidance available on writing a reflective statement), teaching evaluations, selected reprints or preprints, and three reference letters (with at least one addressing teaching).

Applications are accepted at any time, with the review process beginning November 1, 2025 and continuing until the positions are filled. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2026 or later. For further information, applicants are directed to the department’s website and the application portal.
