About this position

Mercor is recruiting a Mathematics Research Collaborator for a part-time, remote role in the United States. This is a paid opportunity to work with a leading AI lab and help train next-generation AI systems on advanced mathematical reasoning.

The work is centered on pure and applied mathematics, including areas such as number theory, algebra, algebraic geometry, topology, analysis, PDEs, probability, combinatorics, dynamical systems, logic, representation theory, mathematical physics, and adjacent theoretical computer science/statistics. Responsibilities include reviewing mathematics papers for correctness and rigor, authoring and reviewing challenging math problems, evaluating model outputs, and identifying subtle errors in proofs and reasoning.

The role is aimed at accomplished researchers: PhD holders, postdoctoral researchers, faculty, research scientists, and strong senior PhD students or recent graduates with exceptional publication records. The post emphasizes top-tier publications, competitive fellowships or honors, and active research experience. It is especially suited to mathematicians who want to apply their expertise beyond academia while contributing to frontier AI research.

Funding: $80-$110 per hour, up to 20 hours per week. Work is fully remote and paid weekly via Stripe or Wise. The engagement is through Cincinnatus LLC as employer of record, with independent contractor terms.

How to apply: Submit your application through the Mercor link provided. The application asks for your full legal name, email, and LinkedIn URL. The post does not list a deadline.
