About this position
Masters / PhD opportunity at Université de Sherbrooke, Canada in remote sensing, river mobility, large-sample hydrology, and fluvial geomorphology.
A new research group is recruiting MSc and PhD students to study river morphodynamics, including satellite remote sensing of river mobility and geomorphic change, large-sample hydrology and explainable AI approaches, river responses to hydro-climate extremes, and fieldwork/experimental geomorphology. Students may also work with drones, GNSS, ADCP, and Sherbrooke’s Outdoor Experimental River Facility.
Supervisor: Anya Leenman, Université de Sherbrooke.
Funding: CAD 20,000/year for MSc or CAD 24,000/year for PhD, plus domestic tuition coverage. Students are also expected to apply for external scholarships (e.g., NSERC, FRQ).
Eligibility highlights: background in geography, geology, environmental science, engineering, or a related field; strong interest in river dynamics/fluvial geomorphology; experience or interest in remote sensing, GIS, explainable AI, large-sample statistical approaches, and programming in R or Python; strong communication skills.
