MSc and PhD Opportunities in Remote Sensing, River Mobility, and Large-Sample Hydrology
Masters / PhD opportunity
at
Université de Sherbrooke, Canada
in
remote sensing, river mobility, large-sample hydrology, and fluvial geomorphology
.
A new research group is recruiting
MSc and PhD students
to study river morphodynamics, including satellite remote sensing of river mobility and geomorphic change, large-sample hydrology and explainable AI approaches, river responses to hydro-climate extremes, and fieldwork/experimental geomorphology. Students may also work with drones, GNSS, ADCP, and Sherbrooke’s Outdoor Experimental River Facility.
Supervisor:
Anya Leenman, Université de Sherbrooke.
Funding:
CAD 20,000/year for MSc or CAD 24,000/year for PhD, plus domestic tuition coverage. Students are also expected to apply for external scholarships (e.g., NSERC, FRQ).
Eligibility highlights:
background in geography, geology, environmental science, engineering, or a related field; strong interest in river dynamics/fluvial geomorphology; experience or interest in remote sensing, GIS, explainable AI, large-sample statistical approaches, and programming in R or Python; strong communication skills.
How to apply:
send a 1–2 page proposal, CV, transcripts, writing sample, code sample, and two references/referee contacts by email to Anya Leenman at [email protected]. The proposal may be written in French or English.
Start date:
