About this position
The University of Manitoba in Canada is recruiting six graduate students (MSc/PhD) to join research efforts in inorganic materials, battery chemistry, and machine learning–driven materials discovery. These positions are available in the Laboratory for Electrochemically Functional Materials (C. Kuss Research Group) and the Functional Inorganic Materials Lab (A. Iyer Research Group). The research areas include experimental inorganic material design, machine learning for material prediction and discovery, development and testing of active battery materials, scaling of battery material synthesis, and advanced material characterization.
Applicants should have an undergraduate degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials engineering, or a closely related field. Strong English language proficiency is required, and international students must have a minimum GPA of 3.75/4.5. Curiosity in materials sciences and prior experience working in a research laboratory (such as undergraduate research projects, summer research, or student research assistantships) are required. Prior research experience in materials chemistry is an asset but not mandatory.
Successful candidates will benefit from a guaranteed stipend for the full duration of the program, opportunities to attend international conferences, participation in graduate teaching assistantships, and access to a vast range of additional graduate awards. The research environment is collaborative and international, providing a unique opportunity to work on cutting-edge problems in materials science and battery technology.
To apply, interested candidates should fill in the dedicated recruitment form linked in the announcement. For more information, visit the research group’s website or contact the supervisors directly.
