Sejong University in Seoul, South Korea, is inviting applications for PhD and Masters positions in the AI & Information Technology Research Lab, led by Professor Sunghwan Kim. The lab specializes in theoretical research with a focus on wireless communications, DNA storage and security, transformers, and artificial intelligence applications in these fields. Students are expected to engage primarily in research and academic paper writing rather than hands-on projects.

The university is ranked 392 in the QS World University Rankings 2026 and is among the top 10 in Korea. The lab offers a collaborative environment with research directions including next-generation communication technology, non-orthogonal multiple access, rate-splitting multiple access, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces, error correction codes for data recovery, quantum information, and quantum computing.

Conference support is provided once per year. The professor prefers applicants for the combined MS/PhD track, but Masters-only candidates are also considered.
