About this position
University of Zurich Robotics and Perception Group is hiring multiple PhD students and postdoctoral researchers in AI, robotics, computer vision, and event cameras.
The openings cover several research directions: vision-based robot learning with world models, learning vision-based navigation without state estimation, spatial AI for indoor navigation of blind people, and low-energy vision with event cameras and frames. The work spans deep learning, imitation learning, reinforcement learning, differentiable simulation, multimodal fusion, SLAM, control, navigation, and real-world robotic evaluation.
The positions are based at the University of Zurich within the Department of Informatics / Institute of Neuroinformatics / Robotics and Perception Group, led by Prof. Davide Scaramuzza. One project includes collaboration with the National University of Singapore and expects one or two trips per year to Singapore.
These are fully funded positions and regular jobs with social benefits, competitive salary, and access to strong research infrastructure, including GPU resources and robotics facilities. The group highlights work in autonomous drones, agile flight, event cameras, and accessible indoor navigation.
Applicants should have a Master’s or PhD in a relevant technical field, strong English, very strong C++ and Python, and experience with robotic systems and/or aerial robots. Helpful background includes deep learning, reinforcement learning, control, path planning, aerodynamics, state estimation, computer vision, and numerical optimization. For postdocs, a strong publication record and proven research/implementation experience are expected.
There is no fixed closing deadline; applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the positions are filled. The page recommends applying as soon as possible. Start date is as soon as possible.
Apply through the dedicated PhD or postdoc application forms on the positions page. Email inquiries go to [email protected]; applications sent by email will not be considered.
