PhD and Postdoctoral Positions in Optimization, Game Theory, and Machine Learning at Technical University of Munich Technical University of Munich in Germany

The Chair of Decision Sciences and Systems at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), led by Prof. Martin Bichler, is recruiting outstanding PhD and postdoctoral researchers for the ERC Advanced Grant project “Equilibrium Learning, Uncertainty, and Dynamics” (ELUD). The research focuses on automated market interactions, learning agents, and the design of new algorithms for computing equilibria in game-theoretic settings.

The positions are full-time, initially for two years, with the possibility of extension. Doctoral candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Computer Science or Mathematics, while postdoctoral applicants require a Ph.D. in these fields, ideally with expertise in Optimization, Game Theory, or Machine Learning. Applicants should have an excellent academic record, strong motivation, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

English proficiency is required; German is not necessary. The work environment is dynamic and international, located at the TUM Garching campus. The salary follows the TV-L E13 scale, and funding is available for travel and conferences.
