About this position
Ghent University is advertising a temporary full-time assistant position in the Department of Accounting, Corporate Finance and Taxation within the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration.
This opportunity is research-oriented and PhD-linked: at least 50% of the appointment is dedicated to academic research in preparation of a doctoral dissertation in the field of accounting, with possible interest in accounting education. The successful candidate will also support teaching in Dutch, particularly in financial accounting courses such as Accounting A and Accounting B, and will teach tutorials using a team-based learning approach. In addition, the role includes assistance with internal and external departmental services.
Eligibility highlights: applicants must hold a Master in Business Economics, Business Engineering, Business Administration, or an equivalent degree by the start date. For degrees obtained outside the European Union, a certificate of equivalence (NARIC) is required or proof that an application has been submitted. Strong teaching and communication skills in Dutch and English are essential; prior teaching experience and extra training, conferences, or similar academic activities are considered an advantage.
Employment conditions: this is a two-year appointment with the possibility of two renewals of two years each, subject to positive evaluation. The appointment can start no earlier than 1 September 2026. Remuneration is according to salary scale AAP3, and Ghent University offers staff benefits including training opportunities, paid leave, bicycle commuting reimbursement, and ecocheques.
Application deadline: 28 July 2026 at 23:59 Brussels time. Applications must be submitted online through the university e-recruitment system, with a CV and study results merged into one PDF, a cover letter, the diploma transcript, and, where relevant, the equivalence certificate.
