About this position
The University of Namur is offering a full-time assistant position in the Department of Biology, designed for candidates interested in pursuing a PhD while actively contributing to teaching and research activities. The successful applicant will join the Dennis Lab and the Research Unit for Environmental and Evolutionary Biology (URBE), participating in practical work, tutorials, and field internships for undergraduate and graduate students. Research topics include genomics, evolution/co-evolution, population genetics, parasitology, and physiology of aquatic invertebrates, with opportunities to engage in molecular ecology, transcriptomics, and bioinformatics.
The position involves technical and scientific management within the research unit, as well as collaboration in organizing departmental and institute events. Applicants must hold a master's degree in biological sciences, bioinformatics, or an equivalent field, and possess experience in genomics, metabarcoding, evolutionary analyses, and molecular laboratory techniques. Familiarity with R and Linux computational environments is required, alongside a strong interest in teaching and adaptive evolution. Excellent communication skills in French and English, autonomy, organization, and motivation to integrate into a teaching and research team are essential.
The position starts in February, with applications due by November 30, 2025. Application forms are available online, and complete applications (form, CV, cover letter) should be submitted as a single PDF to the administrative manager and relevant professors. Interviews for shortlisted candidates will be held in early December.
