The project is based at the Department of Computer Science / Department of Information Technology and Computer Science in Trondheim, Norway, and is linked to the research group IS-CHI (Information Systems and Computer Human Interaction).

The research focus combines bio-inspired AI, machine learning, deep learning, support vector machines, and misinformation detection / fake news mitigation. The successful candidate will work on both foundational and applied research: identifying and further developing a suitable Bio-AI model and applying it to the dynamic problem of misinformation spread in digital and social media environments.

This is a doctoral training position leading to a PhD degree. The appointment is for 4 years, with 25% career-promoting work included. The post includes operating funds for the project and a salary of approximately NOK 580,000 per year depending on qualifications and seniority.

Eligibility highlights: applicants must have a relevant master’s degree in computer science/informatics or equivalent, including a substantial thesis (minimum 30 ECTS). The degree must be completed by the start date and no later than 1 January 2027. A strong academic record is expected (average grade B or better, or equivalent), along with excellent English, Norwegian or another Scandinavian language at B1 level from day one, good understanding of Bio-AI concepts, and strong programming skills. Experience with basic research and scientific writing/publication is an advantage.

How to apply: submit the application through Jobbnorge by 13 November 2026. Upload transcripts and diplomas, CV, thesis or thesis draft, a project proposal (max 1500 words / 4 pages), a short motivation letter, publications or other relevant research work, certificates, and contact details for 3 referees.
