PhD Doctoral Researcher Positions in Chemistry at University of Jyväskylä University of Jyväskylä in Finland

Call for applications for three Doctoral Researcher positions in Chemistry at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland, in the Department of Chemistry within the Faculty of Mathematics and Science.

The positions are focused on chemistry and related interdisciplinary research areas, including chemical nanoscience, functional molecules and materials, hydrogen research, and circular economy chemistry. Successful candidates will join an active research group in the department and contribute to doctoral research, doctoral studies, teaching support, and broader academic activities. The department is part of the Nanoscience Center and offers strong laboratory, instrumentation, and computational resources.

There are two application tracks: Option A is a full PhD position for new doctoral candidates, funded for 3.5 years. Option B is short-term funding for candidates already pursuing a PhD, for up to 18 months. The positions are fully funded, with a starting salary of approximately €2500/month gross, plus salary progression based on research progress and a holiday bonus.

Eligibility highlights include a Master’s degree in chemistry or a related field, a good command of English, and eligibility for postgraduate studies at the University of Jyväskylä. For Option A, applicants must secure agreement with a supervisor and research topic before applying. For Option B, applicants must already be an active PhD student in the Department of Chemistry and meet the department’s supervision and study-status requirements.
