What's required
Applicants must have a master’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering, Electrical Power Systems, Electrical Energy Systems, Electrical Power and Smart Grids, Smart Grids, or Power and Energy Systems, or be near completion of the degree. Admission to the PhD programme is required, including a bachelor’s degree of 180 ECTS and a master’s degree of 120 ECTS or an integrated master’s degree of 300 ECTS, with a master’s thesis of at least 30 ECTS (or 20 ECTS for an integrated degree). Applicants must document fluency in English; Nordic applicants may document this with a high school diploma. Working knowledge of Norwegian or another Scandinavian language is beneficial. Desirable experience includes power system analysis and distribution networks, MATLAB/Simulink, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, OpenDSS, Python, optimization, control theory, machine learning or reinforcement learning, real-time simulation, hardware-in-the-loop testing, or cyber-physical systems. Applicants should also show motivation, collaboration skills, communication skills, and suitability for research training.
