PhD opportunity in Statistical Genetics at the University of Lausanne (UNIL) within the Statistical Genetics Group led by Zoltán Kutalik, Associate Professor. The project is centered on genetic architecture of complex human diseases, with a strong focus on Bayesian modeling, GWAS, multi-omics integration, and computational/statistical methods for translating genetic discoveries into biological and clinical insights.

The proposed research can be tailored to the successful candidate’s background and interests. The detailed project described by the group involves developing a Bayesian hierarchical framework to trace genetic perturbations from variants to genes, core genes, and disease, with applications to cardiometabolic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, obesity, dyslipidaemia, and coronary artery disease. The work includes integrating evidence from cis-eQTL, cis-pQTL, pLOF variants, colocalisation, co-expression and regulatory networks, Perturb-seq, Mendelian randomisation, and therapeutic target prioritisation.

Eligibility / profile: highly motivated prospective PhD candidates with interest in statistical genetics, computational biology, and methodological development. Experience or interest in large-scale genomic and multi-omics datasets is relevant. The post asks for a motivation letter and CV for the internal selection stage.
