About this position

PhD opportunity at Monash University Malaysia in 3D bioprinting, skeletal muscle modelling, insulin resistance, functional food, and metabolic health.

This project aims to develop an advanced three-dimensional (3D) in vitro skeletal muscle platform that better captures the physiology of metabolic tissues involved in glucose regulation. The model will be used to evaluate selected functional foods and their potential to support metabolic health, with relevance to type 2 diabetes, endocrinology, cell biology, molecular biology, nutrition, pharmacology, and tissue engineering.

Supervision: Main supervisor Dr. Wendy Yeo Wai Yeng (Monash University), with associate supervisors Dr. Lim Wei Meng and Dr. Ts Ho Kok Hoe.

Funding: Successful applicants will be awarded the Graduate Research Excellence Scholarship (GRES), including a full tuition fee waiver and a monthly stipend for up to 3 years 6 months.

Eligibility: Applicants should have at least First Class Honours (H1) or an equivalent qualification recognised by Monash University Malaysia, and must meet the English language requirements.

Location: Subang Jaya, Malaysia.
