Bahria University, Islamabad (H-11 Campus) has reopened admissions for a PhD in Artificial Intelligence for Fall 2026. The post announces both a Regular PhD Program and a Fully Funded PhD Fellowship Scheme in a research group led by Prof. Dr. Amanullah Yasin in the Department of Computer Science.

The fellowship research theme is Privacy-Preserving Federated Soft Biometrics for Real-Time Covert Urban Surveillance. The project sits at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, Federated Learning, Edge Computing, Big Data Analytics, Incremental & Distributed Learning, and Human-Centric AI. The broader research interests listed include soft biometrics, deep learning and transformers, privacy-preserving AI, human activity recognition, crowd analytics, smart city intelligence, and ethical/responsible AI.

The fellowship offers strong financial support: full tuition coverage for 3 years and a monthly stipend of PKR 100,000 for 3 years. It also mentions access to advanced AI laboratories, high-performance computing facilities, high-impact publications, and possible international research exchange opportunities. The project includes collaboration with researchers from London Metropolitan University, United Kingdom, which may support joint publications and international networking.

Eligibility differs by track. For the Regular PhD, the minimum requirement is CGPA 3.00/4.00. For the Fully Funded Fellowship, applicants need an MS/MPhil or equivalent in AI, Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Cyber Security, Information Security, or a closely related field, plus CGPA 3.50/4.00. Applicants with strong preparation in machine learning, deep learning, mathematics, optimization, computer vision, and Python-based AI frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras are especially encouraged.
