Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna is inviting applications for the PhD in Biorobotics 2026–27 at the BioRobotics Institute in Pontedera (Pisa, Italy). This opportunity is especially relevant for students interested in bioelectronics, neuroengineering, regenerative medicine, functional biomaterials, and implantable neural interfaces.

The research environment is interdisciplinary and international, with projects spanning functional biomaterials for nerve regeneration and bioelectronic medicine, next-generation implantable neural interfaces, and bioelectronic protocols plus computational models to modulate autonomic nerve activity and restore organ feedback control. Funding: 9 funded positions are available, with possible additional positions supported by active projects and other resources. The doctoral scholarship is €19,740 gross per year plus a €2,200 gross housing allowance per year, approximately €1,600 net/month, along with 26 free meals per month, a 50% increase for research stays abroad, and a personal research budget equal to 10% of the scholarship.
