About this position

PhD opportunity in Brain, Computation and Technology at Radboud University, embedded in the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition and Behaviour in Nijmegen, Netherlands.

This opening is part of the MultiSens-1.0 consortium project, which aims to develop a home-based assessment tool for multisensory disorders. The project combines neuroscience, psychology, psychophysics, human factors, artificial intelligence, digital health, and medical technology. The successful PhD candidate will help design and test multisensory experiments, build and improve the MultiSens application, work with patients to collect real-world data, and compare app-based performance with laboratory methods.

The position is hosted in the Sensorimotor Research Group of Prof. Pieter Medendorp. The project involves collaboration with Radboud University, Radboud university medical center, Sint Maartenskliniek, and technology partners Orikami and VicarVision. The work is funded through the NWO Open Technology Programme.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold an MSc in Cognitive Neuroscience, Experimental Psychology, Artificial Intelligence, or a closely related field. Suitable applied backgrounds include Human Factors, Biomedical Engineering, or Human-Centred Design, provided they include strong training in human perception research and quantitative methods. Experience with MATLAB and/or Python, quantitative data analysis, and experimental or computational methods is expected. Strong teamwork and communication skills are important.

Funding: this is a fully funded PhD position with a 4-year employment contract. Salary starts at €3,059 gross per month and rises to €3,881 in the fourth year, plus holiday allowance and end-of-year bonus.
