PhD opportunity at the University of Worcester in the School of Health and Wellbeing.
This funded PhD project, “Caring for Carers: An exploratory study of support needs for unpaid carers of people with serious mental illness in rural contexts in UK,” examines unpaid informal carers of people with serious mental illness (SMI), including psychosis and bipolar disorder, in rural settings in Worcestershire and Herefordshire.
Research focus: the project will identify current support provision, barriers that may exclude carers from support, and the lived experiences of a diverse group of rural carers through qualitative interviews. Supervisory team: Professor Elizabeth Hughes (Director of Studies), Dr Molly Miley, and external advisor Dr Martin Webber.
Funding: full-time 4-year funded studentship with a tax-free bursary of £20,407 for 3 years, a fee waiver for 4 years, a project-costs budget, and equipment/support resources.
