This doctoral project is titled Characterization of boreal soil proteins and their role in soil nitrogen turnover. The work is based in the Department of Forest Ecology and Management and focuses on how soil proteins contribute to nitrogen availability in boreal forest soils. The project combines laboratory analysis of natural soils from mesocosm and field experiments with proteomics-oriented work in collaboration with the Umeå Proteomics Platform.

The post also asks for documented laboratory experience, univariate and multivariate analysis experience, and strong cooperation, problem-solving, analytical, and independent working skills. Experience in proteomics, LC-MS/MS, protein chemistry, and bioinformatics is considered meritorious.

Funding: the position is an employment as a doctoral student for 4 years, with salary according to the local collective agreement and fixed salary progression.
