About this position
Dalarna University is advertising a Doctoral student in Energy Technology at the Department of Information and Technology, Campus Borlänge, within the multidisciplinary research environment of the Department of Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Economics (SITE) and the Sustainable Energy Research Centre (SERC).
The project is part of the new national competence center on solar electricity (SOLVE phase II) and focuses on solar energy systems for buildings, energy communities, and peer-to-peer (P2P) business models in a Swedish context. The research combines simulation/modeling, advanced machine learning, economic profitability, fair cost sharing, and social surveys, with comparisons to real case studies and collaboration with companies working on solar integration in buildings and electricity grids.
The position is full-time and time-limited, and the doctoral student will be formally admitted to the Doctoral Programme in Resource-Efficient Built Environment under the subject of Energy Systems in the Built Environment. The university highlights its long-standing solar energy research, applied and system-oriented work, and collaboration with industry partners.
Eligibility highlights: applicants must already be accepted or eligible for a postgraduate program; have an advanced degree in engineering or natural sciences with energy as a central subject (or equivalent knowledge); have completed an advanced-level degree project with a passing grade; and have very good English skills. Experience with simulation tools and economic studies is meritorious, and Swedish language skills are also an asset.
Funding: salary according to Dalarna University doctoral ladder; co-relocation services may be available.
