About this position
PhD Student opportunity in Genome-to-Genome Analysis of Dengue Severity at CNRS MIVEGEC, University of Montpellier, France. The project is supervised by Dr Vincent Pedergnana (Perturbation Evolution and Virulence Department) and focuses on host-pathogen genome-to-genome interactions that influence dengue disease severity.
The research uses data from 1,400 patients from Sri Lanka, La Réunion, and the Caribbean to study how human genetic variation and dengue virus variation interact to shape clinical outcomes. The role is strongly oriented toward statistical genetics, viral genomics, immunology, and bioinformatics, with opportunities to contribute to publications and scientific communication while collaborating with clinicians and epidemiologists.
Requirements: Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Statistical Genetics, Computational Biology, or a related field; experience with statistical analysis and programming in R or Python; background in genetics, genomics, or infectious disease; strong communication skills. Preferred experience includes GWAS, viral GWAS, G×G interaction models, dengue virus, host-pathogen systems, and large clinical cohort data.
Funding: Doctoral contract for 36 months, full time, with a salary of 2300 EUR gross monthly, plus 44 days annual leave and RTT.
Deadline: 17 August 2026. Location: Montpellier, France.
Apply via the official CNRS vacancy page and contact Dr Vincent Pedergnana for further information.
