Doctoral Researcher opportunity at the University of Luxembourg, within the Interdisciplinary Centre for Security, Reliability and Trust (SnT) and the TruX Research Group led by Prof. Dr. Tegawendé F. Bissyandé.
This PhD focuses on Human-Computer Interaction, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning, with a strong emphasis on understanding how humans interact with AI systems in the design and detection of social engineering attempts. The project includes research on phishing identification, anti-phishing training, automated phishing generation, and the use of AI for social engineering, alongside human subjects research, statistics, data collection, annotation, and resource creation.
The successful candidate will conduct cutting-edge research, contribute to national and international collaborations, prepare scientific deliverables, publish in leading conferences and journals, and support MSc/BSc students and workshops/demonstrations. The role is based at Kirchberg Campus, Luxembourg.
This is a fully funded PhD position with a yearly gross salary of EUR 44,531 for full-time work, on a 36-month fixed-term contract. Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Computational Cognitive Science, Data Science, or a closely related field, and should have a solid background in machine learning and cybersecurity. Python programming is expected; deep learning and NLP experience are advantageous.
Language eligibility requires at least B2-level proficiency in the language of the thesis. The call is restricted to applicants from EU/EEA/EFTA countries, NATO nations, NATO Indo-Pacific Partners (Australia, Japan, Republic of South Korea, New Zealand), and Ukraine.
