About this position

PhD opportunity in Materials Science and Biomaterials focused on the wet-process synthesis of doped calcium phosphates for biomedical applications.

The project is a CIFRE doctoral contract jointly hosted by Orthopowders and CIRIMAT in Toulouse, France, with the first two years at CIRIMAT and the third year at Orthopowders (Vaulx-Milieu, near Lyon). The research targets greener, safer synthesis of hydroxyapatite or β-TCP, including Cu²⁺ and Ag⁺ antibacterial doping and Sr²⁺ osteogenic doping.

The work combines industrial reactor development, powder functionalization, scale-up, quality control, traceability, and compliance with ISO 13485. It also includes support for standardization activities with AFNOR and ISO, plus reporting, scientific articles, and conference presentations.

Eligible applicants should have a master’s or engineering degree (or be close to obtaining one) in materials chemistry, process engineering, solid-state chemistry, or materials science. Experience in inorganic synthesis of ceramics or powders and physico-chemical characterization such as XRD, thermal analysis, and particle size analysis is appreciated. Strong rigor, autonomy, and fluent English or French with a good level in the other language are expected.

Funding is provided through a 3-year CIFRE contract with a gross salary of €2,300–€2,600 per month. The application deadline is 2026-10-23, and video interviews are planned for late October and early November 2026.

To apply, send the requested documents by email to [email protected] with the exact subject line specified in the post.
