About this position

Call for applications for a PhD student position in the UNLIMITED Maria Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network at the Luxembourg Institute of Health in Esch-sur-Alzette, Luxembourg.

The project, DC14: Microbial Metabolites as Immune Metabolic Switches, focuses on how microbial metabolites and lipid metabolism regulate T-cell function and immune responses. The research sits at the intersection of immunology, biochemistry, microbiome research, lipidomics, and single-cell metabolic analysis.

Research topics include screening microbial and tissue metabolites affecting T-cell function, studying lipid remodeling in effector T cells, and using advanced methods such as lipidomics, SCENITH, Met-Flow, CRISPR/Cas9, flow cytometry-based metabolic mapping, and immunometabolic functional assays. The project also includes secondments with partner labs in Germany, including the University Medical Center Mainz and ActiTrexx Lab.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should have or be finishing a Master’s degree in Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences, or a related life-science field.
