About this position

Doctoral Researcher opening at the University of Luxembourg in research literacy and pedagogy, based at Belval Campus in Luxembourg. This is a PhD position focused on how university students develop understandings of research and research skills through formal and informal learning opportunities.

The doctoral project is broad and can be shaped in dialogue with the successful candidate. Possible directions include research training in academic university programmes, the teaching and learning of research in professionally oriented higher education pathways, how students learn to conduct research, how research methods are taught, how students engage with research-based knowledge, and how research training supports academic and professional development.

The role includes conducting an original doctoral research project, contributing to scientific publications and dissemination, presenting at national and international conferences, participating in research seminars and doctoral training, and contributing to teaching activities, especially Bachelor-level courses in qualitative research methods.

Eligibility highlights: a Master’s degree in educational sciences, higher education studies, sociology of education, psychology of education, or a related field; interest in higher education studies, research literacy, and the pedagogy of research; interest in qualitative research methods (experience is an asset); motivation for academic research and scientific collaboration; ability to work independently and in an international research environment; and at least B2-level proficiency in the language of the thesis.

Funding: fixed-term full-time doctoral contract for 36 months with a yearly gross salary of EUR 43,445.
