About this position
PhD opportunity in supramolecular chemistry at UNSW Sydney, School of Chemistry, with Dr Nicole Rijs and Prof Jonathon Beves.
This interdisciplinary project sits at the intersection of analytical chemistry, synthetic chemistry, data science, and machine learning. The research focuses on reading out information from dynamic chemical systems and developing synthetic chemical systems that mirror behaviours of biological networks. A key technical component is the use of ion mobility mass spectrometry to monitor changes in synthetic chemical reaction networks, alongside advanced experimental workflows using robotics and microfluidics.
Ideal candidates will have a background in analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, mass spectrometry, synthetic chemistry, or data science/machine learning applied to chemistry. Experience with ion mobility mass spectrometry or machine learning on chemical datasets is helpful, but training will be provided.
The position is fully funded for 3.5 years and includes tuition fees plus a competitive stipend.
