About this position

PhD student (f/m/x) in Systems Aging at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE).

This is a full PhD position in a collaborative project at the interface of two research groups led by Dr. Daniele Bano and Dr. Dan Ehninger. The project focuses on systems aging, metabolic dysfunction, and their links to neurodegenerative diseases.

The successful candidate will work with existing datasets and generate new experimental data, contribute to the development of biological clocks that predict disease states and aging trajectories, and gain hands-on experience with Caenorhabditis elegans and Drosophila melanogaster. The role also includes expanding skills in data science and analysis of multi-omics datasets, including RNA sequencing, proteomics, and metabolomics.

Eligibility highlights: a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in biomedical sciences, neuroscience, biology, bioinformatics, or a related field; strong analytical skills; interest in statistical and data-driven research; ability to work independently and in an interdisciplinary international team; and good English communication skills.

Funding: the post states that the project is fully funded. Duration is 3 years, starting as soon as possible.

Application deadline: 25 Sep 2026. Apply online via the DZNE application form. For questions, contact [email protected].
