About this position
Rutgers University’s X-Bai Research Group is advertising a PhD opening in Space Systems, Autonomy & AI for Spring/Summer/Fall 2027.
The research themes include astrodynamics and space situational awareness (orbit determination, uncertainty quantification, physics-informed modeling), space robotics and proximity operations (vision navigation, pose/motion estimation, manipulator planning, hardware-in-the-loop), thermospheric density and space weather (physics-informed ML, drag modeling, orbit prediction), and broader physics-informed and uncertainty-aware machine learning for future space systems.
Applicants should have strong foundations in math, physics, and engineering, with interest or experience in astrodynamics, control, estimation, optimization, robotics, ML, or space science. Python and/or MATLAB skills are requested, and prior research experience is preferred.
To apply, email Prof. Xiaoli Bai with a CV, transcripts, and a statement describing your prior experience, contributions, background, interests in the X-Bai areas, and fit. The post links to the group website for more information.
This is a PhD opportunity in the United States at Rutgers University, with no funding details or deadline stated in the post.
